The Department formulates appropriate social protection policies and administers and manages the delivery of statutory and non-statutory schemes and services, including the delivery of a rang of social insurance and social assistance schemes. The Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (Self-Employed) encourages people getting certain social welfare payments to become self-employed (see leaflet SW92). The Employer’s PRSI Exemption Scheme may be relevant for a business taking on new employees who receive the Back to Work Allowance.
