The SFA describes itself as the ‘voice of small business’ (those employing less than 50 employees) in Ireland, with over 8,000 member companies. The Association provides professional support and offers services to members including economic, commercial, employee relations and social affairs advice and assistance, as well as roadshows, awards and publications.

The SFA National Centre of Excellence is a strategic alliance between FÁS and the SFA in response to calls for great support for management training and development in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
