tender for a co-ordinator for 2011 Craft Sector Initiative
Kerry County Enterprise Board in partenership with other State Agencies is looking at appointing a co-ordinator to develop the craft sector in County Kerry. 2011 is designated as Ireland's Year of Craft and the co-ordinator is expected to manage the activities in the County during the year. The full job description and application details are outlined below
Role of co-ordinator
- Compilation of comprehensive database of craft/gift producers in County Kerry (name, company name, sector, website, email, phone, approximate turnover). Information to be used in website or printed directory
- Define criteria for inclusion in this database
- Organisation of 4 showcase events in the County during 2011
- Working on an area basis to ensure ‘local showcase’ e.g. with local festivals, events, venues of focal interest
- Development of craft trails in the County in liaison with local groups or events where appropriate, ensuring consistent standards through a tailor-made approach
- On a pilot basis, investigate opportunities of ‘exposure’ within existing structures e.g. airport, aquarium, Cill Rialaig, tourist attractions etc
- Management, development and promotion of craft forum
- Promoting the interests of the members as outlined through the forum- negotiating on their behalf where required
- Investigate legal status of group, possible registration as a community/voluntary group.
- Grant applications to relevant agencies on behalf of the group
- Training assessment needs of members
- Liaise with property owners/Chambers of commerce regarding utilising vacant premises
- Liaise with organisers of conferences that may link with craft activities
- Examine options relating to the creation of a flagship retail space for producers
- Examine the creation of a ‘made in kerry’ gift voucher
Estimated hours and cost- 300 hours at €40 per hour (all inclusive cost ie includes vat, travel, phone calls etc). Total contract value €12,000
Ideal candidate:
- Interest and knowledge of the craft sector in the County and nationally
- Proven track record.
- Proficiency in Irish desirable
- Available to start the position in February 2010
